An adventure that began with a jar

Five years ago, Fermentierra was born in a kitchen corner, with a simple dream: to rediscover the forgotten virtues of lacto-fermented vegetables. At the time, few people in French-speaking Switzerland were talking about artisanal fermentation. Today, this ancestral practice is enjoying a revival, and Fermentierra has established itself as a benchmark in the field.

From local markets to specialist conferences, and the ever-growing number of shelves that house our jars, our presence has grown with the times. Behind each new creation is a desire to offer food that's alive, committed, accessible... and delicious.

A symbolic milestone: 5 years of fermentation, transmission and passion

Celebrating five years isn't just about blowing out candles. It's also about looking back at how far we've come. It's a journey made up of thousands of jars, vegetables from local producers, shared workshops, enthusiastic feedback... and a lot of listening. Because at Fermentierra, we've always wanted to listen to the living - the living that sparkles in our jars, as well as the living that animates our community.

These five years have enabled us to lay the solid foundations of a coherent, artisanal project rooted in its local area. Today, we are proud to contribute to the evolution of eating habits towards greater awareness, greater respect for the microbiota, and greater pleasure.

Why is fermentation becoming so popular?

Fermentation is not a fad. It's a return to basics. In a world saturated with ultra-processing, frenetic pace and miraculous promises, lacto-fermentation offers a different tempo: that of long time, natural taste and lasting intestinal balance.

Rich in micro-organisms produced by fermentation, fermented vegetables are distinguished by their aromatic complexity and age-old tradition. Today, they are part of a varied and balanced diet, increasingly sought-after for digestive comfort and the growing interest in intestinal microbiota. Easy to use, these foods can be added to a wide variety of everyday dishes.

Try, for example, a spoonful of shanti-chou (raw sauerkraut) on toast, a few slices of fermented beet in a salad or even a fizzy fermented juice as an aperitif... The effect is immediate, and often addictive - in a good way.

We've been invited to speak at integrative nutrition events, collaborated with committed chefs and welcomed hundreds of participants to our workshops, eager to learn more about the powers of the living. This recognition is invaluable, as it spurs us on to go even further in terms of quality, education and innovation.
